Pupil Premium & Finance

Parents are sometimes asked to make payment for activites and trips by cheque.  Cheques should be placed in a sealed envelope along with necessary consent forms or documents.  Please write on the envelope the name of the trip or event, your child's name and tutor group.  Small amounts can be made in cash, but again in a sealed envelope.  All payments should be taken to the Student Reception.

Alternatively, many of these payments can be made through Parent Pay, which enables parents to put money on to their child's' 'payment cards' so they can purchase items from the College canteen as well as pay for trips and visits.  This can be done on-line or at any Pay Point retailer.

What is Pupil Premium?

The Pupil Premium Grant is given to schools by the Government for each student who is either in receipt of Free School Meals (FSM) or who has been in receipt of them in the past six years. This is allocated to schools for children from Reception to Year 11 and also includes those children who are in care or have parents in the Armed Forces.

Nationally, the statistics show that students who are in receipt of FSM do less well than their peers in external examinations. The aim of this money is to try to close that attainment gap so that all children have equal opportunities for a successful future.

What does this mean for us at St. Joseph's?
The Pupil Premium Grant does not just pay for free school meals, but allows us to help you with a variety of items that are costly, but are necessary for your child's education: uniform, equipment, educational trips.

It is for the College to decide how the Pupil Premium funding is allocated to each child and there is of course a cap on the amount, but we may be able to help towards an educational visit, provide healthy meals, or even with uniform or equipment.

Should you wish to apply for support, please could you complete the Pupil Premium Form below and return it to the College. If you wish to apply for Free School Meals to ensure you fall in to the criteria listed eligible, please complete the Free School Meals Form. All forms can also be downloaded below. Once approval is given, you will receive a letter.

Every child at the College has an identical lunch card but once eligible for FSM’s, the card, is automatically credited with money for lunch each day, therefore ensuring your child has a free healthy lunch.

Guidance notes are shown on each application in accordance with Swindon Borough Council but if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact the College.

We are all living through challenging times financially at the moment. If you believe that your circumstances make your child eligible for FSM, please contact Gill Ealey at the College to discuss this in confidence. Not only will your child benefit, but the College as a whole will, too. In this way, we can work together to strive for the best and happiest outcomes for your child.
