The College has a legal requirement under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, to provide first aid in the workplace. Therefore, our qualified First Aid staff can provide initial help or treatment of a sudden illness or injury until the parent is able to collect and seek treatment with their local doctor.
Our Medical Officer is one of the First Aid team and is not a qualified nurse. Therefore, if your child has been unwell or had a minor accident/incident the day before, advice should be sought at your GP surgery or walk in centre and not sent to college the next day to see Medical Officer. The same applies if your child has been vomiting, had diarrhoea or had a fever, they should not be sent to school until they have been symptom free for 24 hours.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact the college.
