It was lovely to see so many of our Year 13 students, parents and staff at the Celebration Evening. Awards are given to students for academic achievement and progress in their Yr12 studies.
Areas of study throughout the College were recognised from Science to Humanities, Business and Languages. Recipients received their awards from various members of the teaching staff who addressed the audience with tales of why each student was a worthy recipient.
In addition to the subject awards, two special awards were given on the evening. The Stratton Cup for Service is awarded to students who contribute their time to the College and Wider Community. Joint recipients were Omolola Funsho for her contribution to Chaplaincy, Fairtrade and her continued commitment to promote the ethos that is St Joseph’s. Erron Larcombe also received the award for her extra-curricular activities with the National Citizen Service and her dedication to helping the younger students in their sporting activities. Both are worthy winners.
The final award of the evening was The Phil Burchall Cup for Academic Achievement. This award is given in memory of Phil Burchall, who was Deputy Head and Head of Sixth Form at St Joseph’s. The awarded is given to a student with outstanding academic achievement. Lucy Bailey received this award from Governor Elaine O’Connell-Prater.
A huge well done to all the recipients and each of our Year 13 students!
