The regional schools commissioner for south-west England Sir David Carter visited St. Joseph’s Catholic College this week. Sir David is responsible for making decisions about academies and free schools across the south-west. He met with Mr Hughes and students as well as visiting lessons in English, Art and History. Sir David said he was “very impressed by St. Joseph’s and the strong improvements achieved through the focus on teaching and feedback to students”.
Mr Hughes said he was delighted that Sir David had taken the time to come and see the quality of education given in St Joseph’s. He had discussed with him some of the problems facing schools at the moment and had been very proud of to show him the excellent work being done around the college. “It was particularly good to hear our young people talking about their learning and being able to explain what they were doing so well to Sir David”.
